Little Session has no account, no login and no user profile. Your tunes, your sets and your recordings stay on your device. They leave it only if you choose to publish or share them — see Community, sharing and the weekly challenge.
The one thing that leaves your device without you asking is anonymous usage statistics — which screens are used, which free-version limits are reached — sent to a server we run ourselves, in France. Nothing identifies you, not even your country, and you can turn them off in Settings.
All your data — tunes, sets, favorites, instrument settings, compositions, Studio projects and recordings — is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database.
No account is required to use Little Session. No sign-up, no login, no profile.
To decide what to improve, we need to know which parts of the app are actually used, and which limits of the free version people run into. This is the only reason these statistics exist.
Seven kinds of event, and nothing else:

Every event also carries whether the Premium version is active.
The analytics library adds technical information about the device: operating system and its version, app version and build number, library version, and your device language. It also generates a temporary session number that expires after one hour, which groups the events of a single sitting.
Our server never sees your network address: the front-end deliberately replaces it before the analytics software receives the request. As a result no country, no region and no city are derived or stored, and the app cannot tell two people apart — we count sittings, not people. This is a choice, not an oversight: it costs us the ability to know how many different people use the app.
These statistics are sent to a server we operate ourselves, hosted in France by OVH. They are not shared with, sold to, or processed by any advertising network or analytics company. The software used is Aptabase, open source, running on our own machine.
Events are kept for 12 months, then deleted. This is enforced by the database itself, not merely by policy, and a daily automated check verifies the rule is still in place.
Settings → Usage statistics. Turning the switch off stops all sending immediately and erases anything still waiting to be sent. The app works exactly the same either way.

Requests to thesession.org, OpenStreetMap and GitHub go directly to those third parties. The others go to servers we operate, hosted in France by OVH. Sharing a set or a repertoire as a file or a QR code goes through your own device’s sharing features and does not pass through our servers.
These features are optional. Nothing is sent unless you use them, and none of them requires an account.
To let you edit what you published, and to limit abuse, our server stores a one-way fingerprint of your network address combined with a secret value (a “salted hash”), never the address itself. Rate-limiting counters are deleted after 48 hours.
Little Session uses RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases (Premium upgrade). RevenueCat processes purchase transactions through the platform store (Google Play, Microsoft Store, Apple App Store). RevenueCat receives only anonymous purchase data (transaction ID, product ID) and does not access any personal information. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Usage statistics do not involve a third party: the server is ours.
Little Session is declared for an audience of 13 and over. Its content is suitable for all ages, but it is not designed for children and is not part of Google Play's Designed for Families programme or Apple's Kids category.
The usage statistics described above contain no permanent identifier and cannot be used to recognise a person from one day to the next, whatever their age.
If this policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this same URL with an updated date.

The usage statistics described above contain no permanent identifier and are not used to single anyone out; they are collected for the sole purpose of improving the app, on the basis of our legitimate interest, and can be switched off at any time. You may contact us at any time, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL). Full company details are set out in our legal notice.
